TikTok Shop Japan Fees (2026)
Japan is TikTok Shop's most recently restructured market — and the one where outdated fee math hurts the most. On May 11, 2026, the commission moved from a flat 7% to category-based rates of 7–12%.
What changed
| Before (–May 10, 2026) | After (May 11, 2026 –) | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | Flat 7% all categories | 7–12% by category |
| Setup / monthly fee | ¥0 | ¥0 |
| Payment processing | Included in commission | Included in commission |
Category rate structure (post-reform)
- 7%: most standard categories — the default.
- 12%: select sub-categories — notably alcoholic beverages (beer/wine/spirits) and other regulated goods.
- Several categories sit between the two poles; your exact rate is shown in Seller Center → Finance → Commission.
Why this matters for pricing
A seller who priced products at a 7% fee base and sells in a 12% category is now paying 5 extra points on every order — on a ¥3,000 item that's ¥150, which can be the entire planned profit. After the reform, margin planning must happen at product-design stage: COGS ratio, affiliate budget and coupon funding all need to be reverse-calculated from the post-reform rate.
The flat-7% calculators and blog posts written before May 2026 are now wrong for 12% categories. Always check your category's current rate.
Using the calculator for Japan
- Select market Japan (defaults to 7%).
- Enter your exact category rate in the override field if it differs (e.g. 12).
- Model affiliate commission separately — JP creator commerce is growing fast and open rates mirror other markets (10–20%).
